It's my Parting Shot for, what I hope will be, a bounce back edition of "The Fearless Predictor" and Week 19 C-F-L picks...
I was happy to see that my Riders turned the tables in Calgary last week and won by the more than two touchdowns that I said the Stampeders would beat Saskatchewan by. But, I was alarmed when all of my Week 18 picks turned out to be wrong! Oh well, live and learn!
Week 19 starts with a Friday night doubleheader as Hamilton visits Ottawa. The Tiger Cats have been one of the better teams since starting oh-and-8, winning five of their last eight. The RedBlacks need a win in their final game to pull ahead of idle Toronto for first place in the East. This could be a dandy tilt and I'm taking Ottawa by less than a touchdown!
The second game Friday has Montreal in Saskatchewan...Darian Durant returns to Regina. He led the Alouettes to an opening week victory over the Roughriders...but the fortunes have reversed drastically for both teams since then, I think Montreal will play their best game in a while, but it won't be enough as the Green and White prevails by more than a touchdown!
Saturday's first game has B-C at Winnipeg. The Blue Bombers still haven't clinched second place in the West while the Lions are playing out the string. I think Winnipeg turns it on and wins by at least 10 points.
That leaves a Saturday night Battle of Alberta in Edmonton. Calgary should be smarting after being beaten soundly at home by the Riders last week. The Eskimos, if they want it, will need a win to reclaim third...or even clinch if Montreal upsets Saskatchewan the night before. I doubt that will happen...and I doubt the Stampeders play two stinkers in a row. Calgary by less than a field goal!
A winless Week 18 left me at 46-27 overall...the correct percentage plunging to 63 per cent! That has to be better!!
