Why should Rider Nation be encouraged by their team's first playoff spot and their first .500 or better record since 2014? By all rights, Bo Levi Mitchell should've been able to pick apart Duron Carter and the Saskatchewan defence on Friday. That didn't happen! They're not perfect...and they do things a little on the weird and unconventional side at times...but the Roughriders seem to have some luck on their side!
If you believe in history having any kind of relevance as to what the Green and White should be trying to do when it comes to playoff direction, the Riders should focus on finishing third in the West and meeting Winnipeg in the semi-final. Saskatchewan hasn't lost a post-season game to the Blue Bombers since a 15-9 setback in the 1965 West semi-final. Since then, the Roughriders have won seven straight playoff games over Winnipeg...including the 2007 Grey Cup!
The back issues flared up again over the weekend for Graham DeLaet...this time he was half-way around the world when they hit as the Weyburn product withdrew following the second round of the C-J Cup in South Korea. The misfortune follows a strong start to the new P-G-A Tour season, including a fifth place finish at the Safeway Open two weeks ago in California. Hopefully, he returns totally healthy and picks up where he left off!
