It's my Parting Shot for the C-F-L Division finals edition of The Fearless Predictor...
Obviously, there's nothing to this picking playoff winners stuff as I correctly predicted last weekend's division semi-final advancers although, if you want to be picky, I didn't see the Riders beating Ottawa by more than a field goal. On we go to the division finals and, I also picked the Grey Cup finalists last week before the division semis...and I see no reason to retract those predictions.
In the East, Saskatchewan visits Toronto. The Roughriders won both regular-season meetings and I don't see why they won't win this one...unless their pass protection falls apart and the Argonauts take advantage of Green and White turnovers. As is always the case this time of year, turnovers and special teams will be a big part of the decision, but I see the Riders prevailing by more than a touchdown!
In the West, Edmonton has been the best team down the stretch in the C-F-L and many are secretly hoping they can beat the Stampeders, who have been knocked down a peg or two with three straight losses to finish the regular-season...after they had clinched first place. That home field advantage is going to be huge in this one...I've got Calgary winning by less than a touchdown!
That sets up a Saskatchewan versus Calgary Grey Cup Game...the hype and pre-game talk might be more interesting than the game itself!
