It's my Parting Shot for some Tuesday Long Weekend tid-bits...
If I'm a member of the Ottawa RedBlacks' organization and/or a fan of the C-F-L team, I question whether the team's coaching staff watched any video of the Saskatchewan Roughriders over the final half of the 2017 regular-season. If so, they would've seen that putting pressure on Kevin Glenn meant stopping the Green and White offence, forcing them to switch quarterbacks to Brandon Bridge. Maybe that was Ottawa's thinking...don't let Bridge get into the game with his nimble feet and escapability. Rush three, maybe four, guys and cover. They didn't do a good enough job and, as a result, there will be a new Grey Cup champion this year!
Since I'm certain the Argonauts will learn their lesson and attempt to put pressure on Glenn in the Eastern final, it still behooves the Riders to have a healthy Cameron Marshall available to help out the offensive line with pass protection. Marshall is the best blocking back the Green and White have...short of fullback Spencer Moore!
Normally, I don't let the results of the home team being broadcast sway my emotions...except when our broadcast is left out in the cold. Such was the case for Drew Wilson and Chris Hengen-Braun Saturday in Windsor...forced to set-up and broadcast in the windy elements for the Canadian Bowl by the A-K-O Fratmen. Guess what?! I'm thrilled to say our broadcast crew flourished in the nasty conditions and the Saskatoon Hilltops won a fourth consecutive title...handily, I might add! So take that, Windsor A-K-O Fratmen...and others who have pulled that trick in the past! You get what you deserve!!
