It's my Parting Shot for my Weekend Short Shots...
As you can tell from today's Sports Poll question on www.sasknow.ca, there is a lot of debate with regards to the C-F-L schedule and trying to avoid inclement weather at the most important time of the year. Conditions over the weekend weren't great in Regina or Calgary, which has some folks calling for a month earlier start to the season. But, others say that conflicts with the end of the N-H-L playoffs, so keep the sked's timing as is. Two things...one, the weather changes every year at this time of the season. You can get two feet of snow in November or you can get +10 temperatures and sunshine. Secondly, the N-H-L affects all C-F-L markets...except Saskatchewan and Hamilton with the Tiger Cats affected by the nearby Toronto Maple Leafs! Nothing is going to change anytime soon!
Kamloops has made it known that they intend on bidding to host the 2020 Memorial Cup. The Sandman Centre in Kamloops is a splendid facility. The time has come for a Western Conference, and more specifically, a B-C Division team to host. I wouldn't be surprised if Victoria bids...maybe even Prince George and Kelowna, although the latter has hosted in the last 20 years. But, they always seem to have a strong on-ice presence!
I thought about calling for the city to throw a championship parade for the Saskatoon Hilltops once they win a record fourth straight Canadian Bowl tomorrow in Windsor. But, I know that won't happen with the annual Santa Claus Parade right around the corner...so, why not make them the lead float and/or Parade Marshalls?! Make it happen Charlie Clark!!
