It is admirable...and expected...that Regina Pats' G-M and head coach John Paddock and his trusted "Number 1" Dave Struch keep saying that they aren't overly concerned about where the MasterCard Memorial Cup hosts are at as the W-H-L goes into the Christmas break...the unofficial mid-point of the season. But, after watching them twice over the weekend...even when they get Sam Steel and Josh Mahura back from the Team Canada juniors...they have a long way to go to be a competitive Memorial Cup host! But, it can be done!!
Here's a good news, bad news situation potentially brewing. The good news has happened...the Canadian women's hockey team won five of six games from their hated American rivals in pre-Olympic play. The potential bad news...all of the games were one-goal affairs, meaning that the Canadian gals aren't dominating, despite the results, and could easily lose the most important match-up...the all, but certian Olympic final between the two nations!
Before you trash the C-F-L and its officiating again...remember yesterday in the N-F-L and ask yourself, what really is a catch? And, what realIy is a first down? I'm no fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Oakland Raiders...but I feel for those teams today!
