This is Country Music Week and for the second time in 5 years, the Canadian Country Music Awards are being held in Saskatoon. The nationally televised Award Show Sunday at 5 from SaskTel Centre puts the final touch on a host of activities starting today. It’s the perfect chance to get up close to Canada’s biggest country acts. Ticketed events include The CCMA Songwriters’ Series today, tomorrow and Sunday afternoon at TCU Place, the Discovery Showcase tonight at TCU Place, the CCMA Legends Show tomorrow night, at TCU Place, and tomorrow night’s highlight event, the Rockin’ Country Cabaret at Prairieland Park starting at 9 and hosted by our own 92.9 the BULL FM.
This cabaret debuted here with the BULL in 2012 and is now a part of Country Music Week in every city where the Awards are held. Don’t miss FanFest Saturday at Prairieland Park from 11am-4pm, free and open to the public. Sunday’s free and open events are the Countdown Concert Sunday afternoon from 1-2:30 outside SaskTel Centre followed by the Green Carpet from 2:45-4:15pm where you can see the stars including Blake Shelton arrive for the 2017 CCMA Awards Show that starts at 5. If this year is anything like 2012, the last time Country Music Week was held in Saskatoon, music fans are in for a huge treat, especially if the weather forecast holds true.
