I saw an article about annoying things customers do in restaurants according to servers. I wouldn’t make a good server because I wouldn’t have the patience to smile and take it from rude or boorish customers. One of the things some people do is order something quickly without reading the description of the item on the menu. Then when it comes out they realize it isn’t exactly what they really wanted and act like it’s the server’s fault while sending it back. Another problem arises when customers overstay their welcome.
They’ve finished the meal and paid the bill but continue to sit there and talk and talk even though the restaurant is full and people are waiting for a table. Some people ignore the server when he or she approaches the table until they’ve finished whatever they were talking about, indicating that the server’s time is not valuable and not caring that person may be serving a number of tables. Some people are rude and interrupt the server before he or she can even finish saying welcome and giving their name showing that servers are not important enough persons to know their names. There are those customers who are just plain cheap. They either leave a very small tip or don’t tip at all and there are those who complain just to get an amount taken off their bill, sometimes after more than half the meal has been eaten. I believe anyone who is gainfully employed in any occupation deserves to be treated with respect and friendliness. There’s an old true saying that someone who is nice to you but is not nice to a server in a restaurant is not a nice person.
