This is my last commentary before Christmas. I looked back on what I always say at this time and I must sound like a broken record. Maybe that’s because I still believe in the message. That being that, while we live in what we think is the greatest country in the world, there seems to be a greater need than aver for the Food Bank, the Friendship Inn, the Crisis Nursery, the YWCA shelter, Secret Santa and Salvation Army food hampers.
Why is that? Successive governments do study after study and issue report after report on how we must do something to lessen and eventually eradicate poverty, neglect and abuse. They talk the talk but can never walk the walk. Not much really gets accomplished. However, hope springs eternal. Maybe next year…….? In the meantime, whatever your situation , let’s all use the Christmas season to step back from all the problems, pettiness and strife in this old world and remember the true message of Christmas regardless of what your religion is or if you have no religion at all. It’s about peace and good will toward our fellow human beings. Merry Christmas to you and yours from me and my family.
