Saskatoon's two newest bridges are still on schedule to be finished by October 2018.
Special Projects Manager for Major Projects and Preservation at the City of Saskatoon Dan Willems says the structural steel for the west half of the North Commuter Parkway bridge is in place and work is ongoing on the final in-river pier. The bridge will connect the Marquis Industrial Area to neighbourhoods on the east side. Once the final pier is installed, Willems says the structural steel will be put into place on the east side of the bridge. New roads and upgrades to existing roads still need to be finished before the North Commuter Parkway bridge can open. Meanwhile, all of the structural steel is in place for the Traffic Bridge, and Willems says they are working to install the deck panels which create the subfloor of the new bridge. The asphalt driving surface will be installed next summer.
