Organizers at the Saskatoon Pride Festival will be re-painting the rainbow crosswalk that was defaced on Monday.
A black skid mark can be seen on the rainbow crosswalk at 23rd Street and 4th Avenue. It was found just two days after the crosswalk was painted to commemorate Pride Month. On social media, the festival says there was a lot of discussion about either leaving the crosswalk or repainting it. Organizers will be blocking off the road between 3rd and 4th Avenue to touch up the crosswalk, starting at 7 p.m. Following the defacing of the crosswalk, Pride Festival co-chair Danny Papadatos called the situation "disappointing and appalling", with the Pride Festival now only 3 days away.
