Search for missing man continues all-day Monday

Community members from One Arrow First Nation are asking for volunteers to help find Wilfred Almightyvoice, who has been missing since Oct. 20.

A search party was organized on the weekend and will continue to look for the 38-year-old missing man all-day Monday. The group started at 9 a.m.

David Crane is helping lead the search efforts. He said although a volunteer group went out on the weekend, the family has been searching for Almightyvoice for much longer.

“The family has actually been going since a couple of days after he went missing, which was in October,” Crane said.

“So the family has been at it every day, (putting in) long hours, and this is why I came up from La Ronge to help get a search party going with more people involved to help out the family.”

He said the family is asking for volunteers to help with the search efforts throughout the day. He said they will be using horses, quads and snowmobiles to check a few areas on the First Nation and the ditches along Highway 312.

“Even if people in the local area could even come out for an hour or two this afternoon that will be very much appreciated. Also, if they have quads or snowmobiles, that’s appreciated too,” Crane said.

He said the family knows the possible outcome of the situation, but just want to find him and bring him home.

“They do hope that he is still alive, but more of it now at this point is they just want him home, he just wants to be found and (brought) home. They understand with this long period of time, they understand the end result.”

To help with the search, people can contact David Crane at 1-855-425-1533 or Barb Daniels at 980-1298.

People can also show up at the One Arrow Band Hall if they wish to help with the search efforts.
