Feeder steer prices were lower in most weight classes, while the heifer market was relatively stable to slightly higher last week.
Canfax reports steer prices declined by an average of more than $2 per hundredweight. The 600 to 700 pound weight class recorded a small 38 cent improvement to average $212.88 per hundredweight.
Feeder heifer prices were mixed over the week, but managed price gains in most weight categories. The largest decline was in the 700 to 800 pound category. The biggest gain was in the 600 to 700 pound weight class.
Prices for liveweight, non-fed cattle in Alberta were higher over the week. The price of D1,2 slaughter cows increased $2.70 to average $89.30 per hundredweight. The price of D3 slaughter cows rose $3.10 to average $79.60 per hundredweight.
