Two members of the three-time defending Canadian Bowl Champion Saskatoon Hilltops have been named to the C-J-F-L All-Canadian team on defence.
Boundary End Riley Pickett is on the defensive line. The third-year man from Centennial had a Prairie Football Conference-leading nine sacks and one knock-down. The 6’ 3” 230-pounder also made 15-tackles.
Meanwhile, Defensive Halfback Colton Holmes recorded 22-tackles, one sack, one knock-down and a fumble recovery to earn a spot in the secondary. The Aden Bowman graduate is in his second season with the Toppers.
The Hilltops will also have a starting receiver back for Saturday’s Canadian Bowl in Windsor.
Rylan Kleiter will return after missing seven games with a lower-body injury suffered during the 29-26 loss on Sept. 9 to the Regina Thunder at S-M-F Field. The Saskatoon sophomore from St. Joseph was also handling the punting duties when he was injured while making a tackle following a kick late in that game.
John Brown has done an outstanding job as the team’s relief punter. The second-year receiver and Bedford Road grad finished the regular season with a PFC leading average of close to 37-yards.
The Toppers head into the Canadian Bowl with seven straight victories. The Ont. Champion A-K-O Fratmen have won nine in a row.
Opening kick-off is at 12 p.m. local time with the broadcast on 92.9 THE BULL signing on at 11;30 a.m.
