The Saskatoon Hilltops have nine players on the 2017 Prairie Football Conference all-star teams.
Three offensive linemen have made the grade. Veterans Kirk Simonson, Taylon Elderkin and Mason Ochs helped create the room for running back Logan Fischer to gain 804 yards on 21-carries. Fischer is also on the offensive team. Meanwhile, the entire offensive line including Jack Sloboda and Pat Arno are the PFC offensive players of the week as the Toppers gained 258 rushing yards in last Sunday’s 28-21 semifinal win over Winnipeg.
Riley Pickett who led the PFC with nine sacks is a defensive all-star. Fellow Hilltops defensive lineman Tom Schnitzler is also on the squad. The 5th year man from Bishop Mahoney has 10-tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, two blocked punts and an offensive touchdown on his 2017 resume. Linebackers Cam Schnitzler and Cody Peters along with defensive backs Colton Holmes and James Vause round out the Saskatoon content on defence.
Josh Ewanchyna was named PFC special teams player of the week for his 91-yard touchdown return of the game’s opening kick-off against the Rifles.
