Sixteen-year-old Nolan Maier is expected to make his 11th straight start in goal for the Saskatoon Blades tonight (Tuesday) as they host Lethbridge.
The Yorkton product has been solid in place of the injured Ryan Kubic, posting a 4-4-1 record with a 3.42 goals against-average and a .906 save percentage during his run.
"No, not really," said the lanky redhead when asked if he was feeling fatigued from all the games in a row. "I'm just trying to take every opportunity that I can. This is a really big one for me. So, I'm not trying to think too much about being tired. I'm just going to give it my all every night.
"I definitely, really didn't think I'd be getting this many games, especially in a row. But, I've got my shot and I'm trying to take the most advantage of it that I can."
Nineteen-year-old Kubic skated Monday with the Bridge City Bunch and is likely to back-up Maier against the Hurricanes.
The Bridge City Bunch trail the Raiders by four points for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot. Prince Albert visits Swift Current tonight.
Game time for the Blades and Lethbridge is 7:05 at SaskTel Centre. The broadcast on 92-9, THE BULL begins at 6:30.
