It’s the first of what could be four “do or die” nights this week for the Saskatoon Blades as they visit Brandon Tuesday night.
Not only do the Bridge City Bunch need to beat the Wheat Kings, but they need Prince Albert to lose in Moose Jaw Tuesday in order to keep their flickering playoff hopes alive. The Blue and Gold have a “tragic” number of two…as in points. Any combination of points lost by the Blades or gained by the Raiders totalling two means P.A. is in and Saskatoon is out of the post-season. Looking beyond Tuesday, there’s three acceptable possibilities for the week as far as the Blades are concerned. They can win all four games and have Prince Albert lose all four and sneak into the post-season by one point. Saskatoon can win all four games and have the Raiders lose all four, but only one of them in overtime or a shootout to create a tie for the final playoff spot. Or, the Blades can get into a tie-breaker contest, that they would host, by winning three games, losing once in extra time and having P-A lose all four of their games. Because of the time change everywhere else in the world over the weekend, Tuesday night’s first face-off for the Blades and Wheaties is 6 o’clock with the broadcast at 5:30 on 92-9, THE BULL.
