The Saskatoon Blades are back on the road after taking care of business on home-ice.
Since the last time they spent a night in a hotel, back in early January, the Bridge City Bunch played 15 games…13 of them at SaskTel Centre. The Double Blue went 8-4-1 in those home games, moving ahead of Edmonton and Calgary and into the final playoff spot in the W-H-L’s Eastern Conference. Friday night in Cranbrook, B-C, the Double Blue start a critical weekend of games on the road. Expect Logan Flodell to be in goal for the 23-26-7 Blades against Kootenay and Sunday in Calgary with Brock Hamm to likely get the call Saturday at Lethbridge. Hamm was solid in Wednesday’s 2-1 shootout loss to Everett…his first action in a dozen days. Saskatoon starts the weekend three points ahead of Calgary for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference…and only two back of Red Deer. As long as they finish ahead of one of the Hitmen or Rebels, the Blades will be in the playoffs for the first time since 2013. First face-off Friday is 8 o’clock with the broadcast at 7:30 on 92-9, THE BULL.
