The deficit, for the federal, provincial, territorial and, municipal governments in 2016 was $18.1 billion combined.
It was $12.9 billion the year before. Statistics Canada says revenue per capita in Saskatchewan was $16,022 in 2016. That's on the high side of the provinces. Expenses were higher per capita at $16,906. That also was on the high side of the provinces. In terms of proportional functional expenses, the top three in Saskatchewan were health at 31 per cent, education at 21 per cent, and social protection at 15 per cent.
