Suspicious death under investigation in North Battleford

Battlefords RCMP are investigating the circumstances of a suspicious death that occurred Sunday.

The request for police assistance came earlier in the morning from the 1600 block of 102nd Street, where members found a 61-year-old male deceased inside the residence. He’s been identified as David Lapointe of North Battleford and his family has been notified.

Based on the initial investigation, Lapointe’s death is considered suspicious in nature. As a result, there will continue to be a police presence on 102nd Street for several days.

Saskatchewan Major Crimes is assisting the Battlefords detachment, Forensic Identification Services and General Investigation Section. An autopsy took place Monday in Saskatoon.

Investigators are looking to speak with anyone with information on his death. Anyone who lives or works in the 1600 block area of 102 Street in North Battleford are asked to check any security camera footage captured between midnight and 4 a.m. on March 13, 2022. If you have captured footage of anyone in that area during that time frame, please contact the Battlefords RCMP at 306-446-1720.

Any residents that can provide information can do so by calling the Battlefords RCMP or do so anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
