Saskatoon SPCA is about to receive 40,000 pounds of donated pet food.
That's the equivalent of 187,000 meals. The donation comes from PetSmart's "Buy a bag, Give a Meal" program. This is the biggest pet food donation the SPCA has ever received. Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, a tractor trailer truck will pull into the SPCA lot to deliver the 50 pallets of food. The animal welfare agency wants to share the wealth and reached out to shelters and rescues in Saskatchewan and Alberta to see if they could use any of the food. Now that food is no longer an issue, for a while, the shelter is asking for other donations such as non-clumping cat litter, wet cat food, durable dog toys, bleach, and liquid laundry detergent. Monetary donations are also needed.
