The new Saskatchewan Health Authority begins operations in Saskatoon today (mon).
All 13 health regions across the province are now one. Health Minister Jim Reiter says that patients and frontline workers should not notice any change as the 13 health regions merge. Reiter says they are happy to have a board and CEO in place but are prepared for growing pains and many more hours of hard work as the transition continues. Saskatchewan joins Alberta, PEI, Nunavut and Yukon as the only other regions in Canada with a single health authority.
