Saskatchewan's Minister Responsible for Rural and Remote Health is talking about the importance of saving the lives of at-risk youth.
The province's advocate for Children and Youth released a report regarding youth suicide, featuring input from over 250 Aboriginal young people in northern Saskatchewan.
The report indicates nearly half of the victims of youth suicide in this province are Aboriginal and Aboriginal youth suicide rates are four times higher than non-Aboriginal people.
Minister Responsible for Rural and Remote Health Greg Ottenbreit says the government has been working to address access to aid services. The government has increased psychiatric services in rural northern communities, but Ottenbreit says more needs to be done.
