The Prince Albert Police Service reports a steady New Year's long weekend with 276 calls for service and 54 arrests.
Of that number, 24 were arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. Extra resources were deployed for high visibility to help prevent impaired driving with 5 people charged. In one instance, around 5 a.m. yesterday (Mon), officers were outside a home on an unrelated matter when they heard a loud, grinding metal sound. Police say a vehicle trying to parallel park hit a parked vehicle and then took off, but the driver was pulled over and arrested. In another incident, police received a complaint of a possible impaired driving early this morning (Tues) around 2:30 and pulled over a truck being driven by a 14 year old boy, who was arrested and is facing impaired driving charges.
