Damages are estimated at $150-thousand after a fire this morning (Sat) in the Riversdale neighbourhood.
The Saskatoon Fire Department was alerted to smoke coming from a house at 326 Avenue F South. The first engine arrived in 2 minutes and found smoke and flames coming from the back of the home. The house had been boarded up and appeared unoccupied and when firefighters were able to get inside, they were able to confirm that. The fire department says the blaze started inside one of the exterior walls when the electrical wiring was compromised, creating a heat source that ignited nearby combustable materials. It's not known exactly what caused the failure, but the fire department has deemed the fire started accidentally.
