The Saskatoon Police Service's former Chief has been appointed to lead the review of the Office of the Chief Coroner.
Clive Weighill has more than 40 years of experience in Saskatchewan's justice system and is highly regarded for his stance prevention of crime through fixing the social system with more supports. Weighill will examine the whole system of how the Office works, the roles and responsibilities and the way investigations are done and their adequacy. He will also be reviewing the coroner inquest model and the adequacy of lab services, and the relationship of the Office of the Chief Coroner with police, prosecutions and health regions. Weighill's final report and any recommendations to the Justice Minister will be presented July 1st, and they will be available for the public as well.
