A Star City man has been fined $11,500 and ordered to process 159 kilograms of seized goose meat into sausage.
56 year old David Tschetter pleaded guilty to five charges under the Migratory Birds Convention Act. An undercover operation determined that a meat shop in Star City was illegally selling wild goose meat. Conservation officer gave the manager verbal and written warnings that it was illegal to sell wild goose meat. On five occasions between 2014 and September of 2017, undercover officers visited the shop and were able to purchase the meat. The meat that he has been ordered to process will go to food banks in the Melfort area.
