The Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness is pleased with the work being done at the University of Regina to improve overall health.
The federal government invested 937 thousand dollars through the Canadian Institute of Health Research to enable researchers to study a full spectrum of health issues and improve outcomes. $451 thousand goes toward an app to explore the use of smartphones and technology to aid in substance abuse and addiction treatment for those in rural and remote areas. The researcher involved, Dr. Randy Johner, says the app would be a good support for those in recovery. The funding from the CIHR is part of a larger federal investment of $372-million across the country for a full spectrum of health issues. (ckrm/ct Mar13 18)
