Saskatoon Police called in the Air Support Unit to assist in arresting a suspect early Sunday morning.
Around 2:40 a.m., a K-9 officer spotted a stolen SUV around 18th Street and Avenue R. The officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the suspect driver took off, driving at a high rate of speed. A tire deflation device was deployed, but was not successful. However, the Air Support Unit was able to track the stolen SUV and the driver, who abandoned the vehicle a short time later, was arrested by ground officers.
A 40 year old man is charged with failing to stop for police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while prohibited and possession of stolen property.
