It was 28 years ago in 1989 that 14 women were shot at Ecole Polytechnic in Montreal, simply because of their gender.
The anniversary has become the annual National Day of Remembrance and Action to End Violence Against Women. Lori Johb with the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour says the recent allegations in Hollywood could become an international movement to change, to signal that there are consequences to violence and abuse. Job says we need to do better and understand the severity of the issue many women face far too often. Flags at all City of Saskatoon facilites are flying at half mast today, marking the Day of Remembrance.
