The 39th Annual Saskatchewan Marathon returns Sunday.
The event is run along the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon every year. One of the organizers Shad Ali says there will be special participants in the Marathon. 1,300 students will complete the last 2.2 km of their marathon across the finish line. Ali says there will be some traffic restrictions in and around the Exhibition area, the Diefenbaker and Gordie Howe management areas, Holiday Park, Riversdale, Spadina Crescent and Whiteswan Drive. The race begins in Diefenbaker Park with opening ceremonies at 7:15 a.m. The Half-Marathon and Marathon start is at 7:30 p.m., the 10K start is at 8 a.m., the 5K start at 8:30 a.m., and the Marafun start at 11 a.m. A Race Expo will be open to the public at Prairieland Park from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
