Welcome to Saskatonians, where we feature and recognize people within the community of Saskatoon, showcasing the great things that they do, what they like and how they make Saskatoon great!
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Saskatoon?
I’m from Saskatoon, born and raised.
What is your favourite restaurant in Saskatoon?
The Keg, as long as my garlic mashed potatoes are served hot.
What is your favourite activity in Saskatoon?
Running and biking (with my husband) along the Meewasin trails.
If you could change one thing about Saskatoon, what would it be?
Nothing, the fact that most of us stick around Saskatoon with our winter conditions, says a lot for our city.
What’s the best thing about living in Saskatoon?
It only takes 10-20 minutes to get anywhere…. it is a growing city but people still seem take the time to say hi. AND we have bunny hugs.
Where do you work and what do you do?
I work at Ernest Lindner School in Hampton Village and I teach Kindergarten.
What other interesting jobs have you had?
Figure Skating Coach.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Either Australia or Ireland. I have always wanted to go to Australia but my husband is originally from Belfast and I’m still waiting for him to take me to meet some of his family.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
During my son’s hockey try-outs I mistakenly yelled at another child thinking it was my son (not working hard enough). It clearly wasn’t my son as my husband informed me I was watching the wrong jersey number and was yelling at someone else’s kid. Whoops. Awkward!
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I travelled with Disney on Ice for a year…. way back when I was in my 20’s
If you could have only one meal the rest of your life what would it be?
Does it have to be a meal? Could it be a Rum and Coke?
What type of music do you listen to?
The Mud Brothers – Winston’s Pub (every 3rd Thursday)
Who is your hero?
My mom… I wish I could be half the person she is.
What is your favourite thing to spend money on?
Wine and Rum, why bother lying….
If you could retire tomorrow what would you do?
Open up a clothing store or move to Malibu.
What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?
I wish it was something exotic but it would probably be Wild Goose and fresh Oysters. I’m a meat and potatoes kind of person.
What’s the worst thing you ever did as a kid?
Snuck out of the house and got caught.
Who is your celebrity crush?
I don’t have one… but I did meet Chris O’Donnell in NYC but it was a total let down and a long story.
Your biggest pet peeve is what?
Cold Garlic Mashed potatoes
Name someone that you think deserves some recognition.
Farmers in Saskatchewan. Even though I grew up in the city, my dad has farmed since he was 15, so I can appreciate the work they put into their livelihood. My dad is 70 now and I don’t think he’s ever complained.
