The latest celebrity/politician to be accused of sexual misconduct… Democratic Senator Al Franken!
Before he joined the Senate, Franken was a comedy writer for ‘Saturday Night Live,’ and the alleged incident happened in 2006 on a tour in the Middle East, while he was entertaining the troops.
His accuser is a radio host named Leeann Tweeden, who was overseas as well, as the emcee.
When Franken heard that she was going to be there, he wrote a skit that involved both of them kissing, and was allegedly very insistent that they rehearse the kiss. When Tweeden finally agreed, she says he forcefully stuck his tongue in her mouth!
Tweeden said she didn’t report the incident because she didn’t want to be the source of any problems during the tour. (And it’s sad that victims tend to take on blame like that.)
But that wasn’t all! She says that when she got home and looked through a photo gallery of the tour (photos taken by the army), there was one picture that was taken while she was asleep, that made her sick! In it, Franken is grabbing at her breasts without her knowledge.
Al Franken’s response to the accusations is pretty cringe-worthy. At first, he only admitted to taking inappropriate the photo, but later he released a lengthier apology and called for an ethics inquiry -- into himself!
What’s also interesting is Donald Trump’s response. The President tweeted: “The Al Frankenstien picture is really bad … speaks a thousand words. Where do his hands go in pictures 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 while she sleeps?”
Ironically, Trump has been accused of sexual misconduct himself, and he’s yet to comment on Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore, who was accused of being a pedophile a week ago! (To add insult to injury, Moore is still in the Senate race and many Republicans still support him!)
