As if NBC didn’t have enough bad news (with the whole Matt Lauer situation), the numbers are in for its late-night lineup and it’s not looking good!
Jimmy Fallon, who once dominated the competition, has lost a huge chunk of his audience to Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel. (It looks like being more political, more critical of Trump is a winning strategy for them.)
One year ago, Fallon had 3.3 million viewers… now it’s down to 2.6! Meanwhile, Colbert jumped from 2.9 to 3.5 (which is exactly the number the number of viewers Fallon lost) and Jimmy Kimmel is steadily on the rise, from 2.3 to 2.4 million.
On average, Fallon has lost 21% of his audience year over year. At this rate he’ll be in 3rd place, which is unheard of for ‘The Tonight Show’!
Also, this marks a strong comeback for Stephen Colbert! When he first took over to David Letterman his numbers were so bad that CBS was considering replacing him with James Corden!
